Brute Belt - The Next Generation of Dip Belts

Brute Belt - The Next Generation of Dip Belts

March 01, 2018

Since I first started working out at the age of 17, I quickly realized the importance of incorporating bodyweight exercises into my routine. Almost every workout for the past 12-years, I have included either pull-ups, chin-ups, or dips in my workouts. I got to the point after a few years where I was adding a good amount of weight to my body on each of these exercises. Although the exercises were great and were responsible for adding strength and pounds of lean mass to my frame, I continuously faced the same problem…I couldn’t find a decent dip belt.  My Early Dip Belt Experiences The first dip belt I owned was made of leather and had giant metal rivets all over it. It certainly wasn’t the best belt I’ve ever owned. As soon as I added any more than 25-pounds to the belt, I braced myself for pain as the belt always dug into my hips. I’ll never forget the time I added 90-pounds for the first time to dips. I added the weight, clenched my teeth as I stood up unsure of how bad the pain would be, and completed about 8 reps. After the set, I took off the belt and lifted my shirt to reveal popped blood vessels and drops of blood. The belt had pinched my skin so bad, it caused me to bleed. I couldn’t feel it during the exercise due to the adrenaline, but I sure as hell felt it for the next couple of days. It was truly a love/hate relationship with my first dip belt. It sucked, but I probably worked about 3-weeks flipping pizzas and washing dishes just to pay for. A year or so later, I accidentally left the belt at the gym and someone stole it. I couldn’t help but smile, hoping that the asshole actually used it and went through the same pain I did.  After that, I stuck to only fabric belts. They had problems too, of course. Some of them still hurt my hips and pinched my skin, while others had cheap clips that broke easily. Honestly, a few of them were so awfully designed that I couldn’t even use them. They had chains that were so short that I couldn’t even add a 45-pound plate without the weight getting a little too close for comfort. Yes, I’ve been pinched there too. Not fun. My Journey to Find a Better Belt A couple of years or so ago, I went on a quest to find the best dip belt available. Price was no object as long as I could find a belt that was comfortable, easy to use, and could hold up to my workouts. The problem? It didn’t exist. All of them had their own pros and cons, but none of them were exactly what I was looking for. Even the “top-ofthe-line” belts were higher quality, but still had a poor design and were a pain in the ass to use. Why weren’t there any great dip belts on the market? Surely, other people had to have the same frustrations that I did. Befuddled, I took my knowledge and experience as a bodybuilder and my background as an engineer, and decided to design my own. I started from scratch, and after numerous re-designs, product testing, and back-and-forths with reliable manufacturers, I finally developed the exact dip belt I was looking for. A belt that was comfortable, high quality, adjustable, light weight, and versatile enough to be used for lots of exercises.  The Brute Belt I introduce you to that belt I developed, which I called the Brute Belt. The Brute Belt eliminates all of the common complaints associated with traditional dip belts. Versatility – Traditional dip belts are limited in their function due to the chain being located at the front of the belt. The inability to change the location of the added weight restricts its application to only a few exercises (pull-ups, dips, chin-ups, etc.). With the 8 loops (including buckle) located around the belt, the Brute Belt can be used to increase the resistance anywhere around your body. This allows it to be used for countless exercises including squats, split squats, inverted rows, pushups, planks, and more! Check out the exercise list on our How to Use page and our videos/pictures on our Videos/Gallery page for descriptions and videos of exercises that the Brute Belt can be used for.  Comfort – Traditional dip belts are uncomfortable, pinch skin, and often dig into the user’s waist with no padding. They also don’t tighten around the waist relying the user’s hips to hold the weight up. The Brute Belt has built-in padding with custom non-slip grip and can be tightened around the user’s waist to remain comfortable and stable throughout the entire exercise. I think you’ll agree that the Brute Belt is the most comfortable dip belt ever. Quality – If you’re like most gym rats, you’ve used dip belts in the past that couldn’t hold more than 25-pounds without breaking. The Brute Belt is made of quality military-grade materials and is designed to last. The belt can hold over 270-pounds (six 45-pound plates) with ease. Adjustability – Traditional dip belt chains are either too short or too long. Some barely fit around a 45-pound plate and others leave the weights hanging at your ankles. The Brute Belt features a fully-adjustable strap that can be as short as 1.5-feet and as long as 3-feet in seconds. Whether you are working with a 10-pound plate or three 45-pound plates, the Brute Belt allows you to adjust the strap so the weights hang exactly where you want them. Convenience – The Brute Belt weighs only a pound and can be rolled up to the size of a softball. Gone are the days when you have to lug around 4-feet of chain for the old dip belt in your gym bag.  After using the belt for the past 6-months, I truly believe this is the best dip belt on the planet. I know that other bodybuilders, powerlifters, and fitness enthusiasts out there have shared the same pain and frustration that I have with dip belts in the past. I welcome you to do yourself a favor and give this belt a shot. In fact, I guarantee it. If  the Brute Belt isn't the most comfortable, versatile dip belt you’ve ever used, or it simply wasn't what you were looking for, return it within 60-days for a full refund. Check out our FAQ if you have any additional questions on the design. If you’re still looking for more information about the belt, feel free to email me at info@brutebelt.com. I’d love to hear your thoughts! Carl Nelson, CSCS
